The Truth About Impact Fees
In Wakulla County
The Data used in this report was provided by the Wakulla County Property Appraiser's Office. The conclusion in this report is my personal opinion and the result of my own analysis. I am a life long citizen of Wakulla County. My only agenda in analyzing this data is to help me determine the truth as it relates to the emotionally charged Impact Fee issue. Numerous discussions are taking place with excellent points on both sides of this issue. Unfortunately, most discussions are emotionally based and absent of hard facts. One side, is fearful that their jobs and their ability to feed their families are being taken away. The other side is fearful that they are unfairly strapped with the financial burden of paying for growth. It is a mistake for us to make decisions based on fear and emotion.
I honestly believe, that each of our County Commissioners possess a sincere desire to make the best decision for Wakulla County. In spite of their leadership role, they face the same challenges we all wrestle with as they try to separate the emotion from the facts. Wakulla County is a wonderful place to live. Our citizens are intelligent, hard working, good people, who are able to discern the truth when it is presented honestly and accurately. I wish to share my pursuit of the truth and hope it will make it easier for you to understand the facts and decide for yourself. Once you do, please spread the knowledge to those you know. If we choose education over conflict, the truth will guide our steps and enable efficiency and prosperity of our local government.
